Ah, spring. Glorious spring. It’s here! And even though I played at “snowbird” this past winter, I still welcome spring like an old friend.
Spring equinox is one of my favorite days of the year. The power of this day and what it symbolizes is enormous. I can feel the shift happening a couple of weeks before the big day through my sleep patterns and dreams. My sleep grows more restless and my dreams stronger, though at times fragmented. It’s like the power of spring–the true power of rushing water, cracking ice and animals waking from a deep sleep. When I open my front door, I can hear the roar of the river down the hill and it almost sounds like an avalanche. I can feel my heart opening and my hands surging with energy. It’s truly a magical time.
Last night, I stood outside with the crescent moon for awhile, which hung low in the sky. Her horns were those of the high priestess and she seemed close enough to admire but not touch. I felt her waxing power and was careful in my intentions for the year. I spoke what I wanted and believed that everything I imagined would happen–and fast. That’s 2010 for you. A catalyst year where the energies of thought are quickening with the earth in the midst of change. Maybe that’s just spring – but we’re becoming more aware of her rhythms.
It’s a time of rebirth and passion. Equinox speaks of the essential role of balance in all of our changes. It’s celebration of life and the growing season. It’s loving the warmth and softness that comes. I’ve tried to be much more aware of the need for closure, to graciously let something or someone go while being thankful for the experience, honoring what’s passed to allow in the new.
Happy equinox–and may your year be full of love.

Beautiful! Thanks for sharing
